Matt Sewell is an artist, illustrator and author. We have taken his unique water colour paintings of birds and turned them into embroideries and prints on our organic cotton clothing. The aim of the collection is to shine a spotlight on our endangered birds and get them flourishing again. Matt's illustrations represent some of the 67 species of birds on the UK's endangered red list, which is a shocking one in four of our birds. Our collaboration makes extensive use of the colour red to draw attention to these birds.

Drawn in Matt's unique style, we turn his beautiful bird illustrations into textured embroideries perching proudly on our organic cotton tees, sweats, hoodies and caps. These red list birds have been chosen to highlight the alarming plight of endangered birds in the UK.

Our organic cotton tees are a blank canvas for Matt's original bird and nature inspired artwork. One of the reasons for such a dramatic decline in bird numbers is habitat loss. So, the graphics focus on Matt's unique ability to bring out the character and colours of birds and their natural habitats. The tees are made in Turkey, where the organic cotton is grown and we use sustainable water based inks to screen print them in Lewes.

'If a bird were a hat' was the design starting point of these merino wool bobble hats. Inspired by the unique colours from Matt's endangered bird paintings, we take the colours from his watercolours and use them to create these colourful bobble hats. They are made in Britain and we think you'll share our love for them.

If socks could fly, these would! As you can see from the creative packaging, our organic cotton and merino wool socks are inspired by the colours of Matt's watercolour endangered bird paintings. The colour ways of the merino socks pair up with our bobble hats. The organic cotton socks use an exclusive intarsia knitting technique. Made in Britain, both styles make wonderful gifts or treats for yourself.

We give Wildcard, a grassroots environmental conservation organisation, 10% of the proceeds from the sales of our Matt Sewell collection.
The largest landowners in the UK are encouraged to rewild by Wildcard, and the organisation also equips individuals with the tools to take action locally.
